Also known as salvage title, this means the vehicle has been involved in an accident, and has been declared “total loss” by the insurance and sold for scrap, but someone decided it’s worth rebuilding and rebuilt it into a drivable car.
Unless you know the person selling it and he can tell you what exactly was done to fix the car backup (and prove it) you should *RUN AWAY* from this vehicle ASAP. It’ll be a pain to insure and to sell.
it does not mean that it specifically has been sold for scrap, or anything else,
a number of things could have caused it to have been rebuilt,
rebuilt means it was inspected and passed as being a safe to re-title as a road operable vehicle
lots of things could have caused this, it could have been sold from a junkyard, or been in a severe accicent, or one of many other things,
coming out of a junkyard is the most common, but alot that come out of the yards were wrecked, so..
most junkyards can rebuild titles, they have to be licensed to do so by the state
if they arent then it has to go to someone who is licensed to do the inspection
the vehicle is forever branded rebuilt and any titled reissued to the vehicle will be stamped rebuilt
works the same as flood
it is permanent
at least in IL it is
contact your state DMV office for more information on how this works
good luck
